Million dollar security breach was preventable, says GuildInvesTech WeeklyNew York, NY - The recent network break in at KDL Finance was preventable, say Guild officials. The intrusion, which took place last week, involved the theft of private financial records or many of KDL's clients. Officials at the company estimate it will cost them over $1 million to repair the damage and satisfy the claims against them. "We could have prevented it," says Guild Mage Remus. "It's a real pity." Just months before the intrusion took place, officials at KDL were finishing up the selection process for a new network security system. Their final decision was to scrap all the bids and use their in-house IT staff to rework the network. "It was tight," says Michael Gavin, Chief Technology Officer at KDL, referring to the network's new security system. "I've seen the logs. Whoever got in was a genius." One of the rejected proposals came from the Guild. "I believe it was a money concern," says Remus, explaining why the Guild's proposal was rejected. "Look at how much it saved them. If their staffers were good enough secure the system, they'd be working with us." |
