Anonymity StatementIn our capacity as computer and network security developers and consultants, the Guild and its members come in contact with a tremendous amount of secure and proprietary information. It is for this reason that we remain completely anonymous. Because we can not be identified, we can not be coerced into revealing sensitive information or yielding access to secure systems. This also improves the safety of our members, who might otherwise become targets of those who would stop at little to gain access to their knowledge. Recent US Federal regulations, recognizing the necessity or our organization, have granted us the authority to operate both anonymously and independently. Having knowledge of a Guild member's true name would give someone power over that member. Attempts to discover or disclose the true names of our members is punishable by law. Guild members are identified by their nicknames, or "handles," which are unique among the membership. Sophisticated, Guild-developed encryption techniques ensure identification. You can be certain that when, say, Guild Neophyte Ganda1f is assigned to your project, the person behind the name will always be the same one. |
